The Rose is a hyperlight weapon constructed during the days of the First Empires.

This weapon was constructed by an unknown empire long before humanity achieved spaceflight. In 2637, it was discovered on a sub-planetary body in the Wolf 359 system. It was studied, first by scientists from Anaplian Cybertechnologies and later (after a bloody transfer of ownership in 2782) by Eridani Systems, Inc., over several hundred years, but never activated. It was placed in deep storage on Earth, where it remained until after the War of 4404. Studies resumed with the increase in scientific funding following the fall of the Galactic Defense League, and several interesting metaphysical discoveries were made based on the artefact's construction.

It is presumed to have been returned to deep storage at some time before the Quiet Era, but its ultimate fate is not known.

For every life the Rose takes, another being is given back their own. The operator is required to specify both targets.

The Rose takes the form of a golden pod resembling a closed flower.
