Shackleton is a binary white star in the Midnight Edge region. It has two major planets and 5,733 minor bodies.

The stars in this system were often used as a navigational reference point for early explorers of the Midnight Edge, due to a unique frequency harmonisation in their electromagnetic emissions.

In the Quiet Era, this system falls under the jurisdiction of the New Jidheen Federation, but the Jidheen pay it little mind. A small waystation is maintained here for travellers en route to or from the Devil's Reef.
